User Zone / anyone running local LLMs?

Looking for advice on what hardware I should go with if I wanted to run a local llm on raptor hardware. Would an 8 core blackbird with a 48gb vram gpu be sufficient? or should I be considering one of the talos 2 options..? unsure how ROCm support is or if I should consider nvidia for the computer drives.

Looks like bohemia has fully open sourced the original ArmA, complete with linux x64 support and an OpenGL renderer, should compile easily enough for PPC64LE but I lack a current system to try it out myself, here's the link to the source code I'm sure someone here could have it running quick

STALKER now runs natively on IBM POWER thanks to openXray and porting progress over a few months. Performance isnt the greatest so far but its been stable with no crashes and perfectly playable

Xash3d now supports ppc64le, was added to the git pretty simply when I asked in the discord and half-life is pretty flawless witht his "port"

you'll need to compile hlsdk-portable as well. I assume counter strike and everything else xash3d handles runs flawlessly. FPS is great. Although in time I think I'd prefer FreeHL.

POWER9 finally has a tactical shooter. FreeCS/FreeHL compiles with pretty much zero issues what so ever. it's all WIP. 2004 Source engine is planned as well for HL2 and CSS

Operating Systems and Porting / Can't get vulkan working on opensuse leap 15.4

EDIT: nevermind, there aren't vulkan drivers for openSUSE ppc64le



The library is installed, it worked perfectly under x86. however any applications with a vulkan renderer just crash, basically saying there isn't vulkan available.

General Discussion / 3.5 mic and dac/amp don't work under opensuse leap

so i have a fiio k5 pro and a typical microphone that worked just fine under opensuse tumbleweed and fedora 37, however they don't work under opensuse leap 15.4 at all (they work under leap15.4 amd64 just fine)

any guesses to where i can start? dmesg shows them showing up just fine.

I set a system password but now I can't boot into any OS and it doesnt appear to work on anything other than the shell terminal

Blackbird / Onboard nic not working

I can't get any network access with the onboard nic despite the light showing its active. tried this with opensuse and fedora. luckily i had a pcie nic on hand.

to my surprise, when I installed openSUSE tumbleweed as leap was giving me some issues. There's absolutely no web browsers in the repos what so ever.

what can I do?

looks like the current 15.4 supports ppc64le, i don't see a lot of people discussing it though. mainly fedora or debian.

anyone here try leap 15.4 yet on power9?
