[GFX] Alternatives to Adobe suites
« on: October 07, 2026, 07:34:13 pm »
ArtCraft (https://getartcraft.com) might be what Linux desktop is missing, a true graphic pipeline suites for professionals. For years I have heard about how lacking / incompatible of OSS graphic softwares from the professional camp. One would never expect Adobe would ever support Linux or UNIX *again* (they did have Adobe Photoshop and bunch of other softwares in the early 90s for SGI computers). So when an OSS player like ArtCraft appears out of nowhere, this surely might cause a ripple in the industry. I am going to try to compile the software on ppc64le and get one of my artist friend (whose setup is on mac) to try it out.

I read the phoronix article about it and reading through some user/forum commentaries on this. Seems useable but still some way away from an actual photoshop / premiere replacement.
