Phoronix has an article today about a PCIe SouthBridge device with an AMD chipset which adds NVMe, SATA, and USB without needing PCI bifurcation support.

My question is: is there any reason to think this would work on PPC64LE with a recent Linux kernel?

I'm interested because I couldn't get the few SATA PCIe devices I tried working on my Talos II box despite being items that should have worked according to the wiki. https://forums.raptorcs.com/index.php/topic,444.msg3917.html

I actually just put one of these in my Blackbird system, works fine on... whatever version of Ubuntu I have on it (22.04 or 24.04, I forget).  Very nice card for these systems which are really short on pcie slots.  I'm using the m.2 slots (booting from one) and the SATA, haven't tried the USB.

I got bit with the SATA driver problem on recent kernels which appears to be an issue with some of these cards not properly working as 64-bit. I'm going to try 7.2 this weekend which has a patch for the specific card I have in the T2. The Blackbird's onboard SATA seems to be fine.

But that card interests me because I'm trying to free up some slots and I find my current two NVMe-layout a little wasteful.
