If it's for Fedora, you could try running it with the linux-user subsystem in QEMU, but you would also need the relevant x86 shared objects it links to. See https://www.talospace.com/2018/11/sometimes-its-necessary-running-x8664.html for an example (ignore the HQEMU parts and treat HQEMU as equivalent with QEMU for your purposes).

I have no idea. I'm just saying, the fact that there is (will be, might be) a Linux version doesn't mean it will be open source. A good number of the Linux ports before weren't.

Well, if we're counting router SoCs, Floodgap's border router is PowerPC-based too (it's essentially a 603 core but no MMU). Which Aerohive and what SoC?

I like the Intellistations. If I had any more room under the desk and it wasn't a pandemic, I might look around for one.

I think if you can crack that nut, you should be there. This delights me personally; Slackware was my first taste of Linux in 1998-ish (on an old 486 we christened "calvin").

If it's visible to GRUB, it should be visible to Petitboot.

Nice job on the port!

I don't have high hopes. It's nice that Linux builds are becoming more common for some games, and even AAA ones, but it's doubtful source will accompany them and that doesn't help us much at all. We need to get to a state where the engine and the game assets are separated as regular practice, and then the engine can be open-sourced to run those cross-platform assets (and the game assets sold to make money for the next game). That's like having to buy a Quake 3 CD to play ioquake3 on my Talos, which I have, and which I do. I have no problem with that.

Nice. I'm going to have to get one of these up and running.

Welcome, helen.

I'm hearing they're either at or near the point a Linux can boot, but I haven't played with it in awhile, so I don't know how feasible it is. I'm trying to keep the budget down and haven't bought new toys in a bit, or I'd pick up some hardware and try to build something with it.

Can a difference in IRQ cause this problem?

Wouldn't think so. If it really were the IRQ, I'd expect it simply not to work at all.

Wow, that is pretty bad. I haven't encountered this myself, though (either with a USB sound dongle or with HDMI audio from the WX7100), so maybe it's something with amdgpu. What's your kernel command line?

344
I don't think they are, and if you're price sensitive I wouldn't think the Pro parts are that big of a deal. I bought the WX7100 with my Talos II because it was convenient and it was to support Raptor, not because I think the card would be that much better than the equivalent prosumer part.

There's the 2U heatsinks. I use one in a Blackbird. Works well enough but I would only use it for the 4-core.

You have air moving across it in some capacity though? No issues with throttling or anything?

Yes, there are case fans. It's never gotten into overheat territory since those were installed.
