There are many less-popular specifications, from SAS to DisplayPort to IEEE-1394/FireWire/i.link that I find myself sympathetic to, where much of the opposition seems to be due to existing popularity/install-base. I only hope Power ISA’s future is more like DisplayPort than FireWire.

Oh yeah, I like IEEE1394 (in 2005 we produced FB6000 from Stryker, which was/is used for brain surgery. This board also used 1394b.) pretty much. Sadly, FW3200 never apeared in the mainstream. NuBus was also very cool back in that date.

Q: Why does Sound Blaster AE-9 not work under Linux?
A: Because it is not supported by ALSA.

This means if you select a sound card that is supported by ALSA, it will obviously work under Linux ...

You don't need the maximum spped. The fans are rotating as fast as needed ...

Off course will a patched Kernel work, if you do the patch ... I'm talking about the stock Kernels. And Ubuntu used the 5.4 Kernel, because it was the up-to-date Kernel at that time, I guess.

And for Ubuntu (as for any other POWER distribution): Navi support is broken.

Warm air rises to the top.

Push-pull configuration:
Front/Bottom: Pushes air to mainboard
Top/back: Pulls the air away from the mainbaord

If you have a 3U heatsink, then everything is fine. The fan rotates as fast as it needs to. An external fan is nonsense. It's useless.

Very odd. Do you have a 2U or 3U heatsink?
