Got it all clear. And why did you decide to install Kernel 5.6? The patch is then provided by default in these new Kernels or should we always install it ourselves?

General Discussion / The pride of being Power!
« on: March 07, 2020, 04:19:46 am »
Friends of Power comunity, I decided to open the first general discussion on our beloved architecture because this damned Corona Virus COVID-19 is putting a strain on the whole world but it is precisely for this reason that something that concerns us closely, is being setting in motion to resolve the situation. I speak obviously of Summit that for a few days now, it begins to peep out not only in the specific articles of technology and computers where it usually is but rather in the news pages of every day and for everyone. I shared these articles both here and on Facebook as well, just to pay homage and support the work that the United States Energy is doing and to praise our beautiful architecture and our legendary Power 9 because maybe thanks to him there will be a great contribution to defeating COVID-19! Let's say it is a great satisfaction and a pinch of pride for me to see this thing, as a sort of revenge on all those who continue to think that in the world there is only X86 and only with that you can do everything ...! So I'd say Summit come on, we're with you!

but sorry, this 5500 XT graphics card, can you make it work with the same patch as the 5.5.0.rc1 kernel that we installed some time ago? I know that is for ships 10 and this is ships 14 ... How do you make it work let me understand ...

Epic is to blame why?  Did they do anything to stop development?  Do you have any more news about it?

Guys the last time you told me about 2 titles to make the Radeon 5700 work a bit but you didn't tell me about a title that perhaps in the Eco Power system is having more effect than I think here 2 ... I'm talking precisely by Unrial Tournament 4. I see a demo on You Tube that ran on Power8, really interesting I would say ... But news about the development of this game there are not updated apart from obviously the work that a user of the Forum is trying to do ?

no Classic I haven't changed anything, the BMC password that Raptor gave me is still the same. Listen how do I go about making sure I'm not wrong? I'm afraid of doing some damage since I've never done it. Then I would like to know some commands to run to see from the information when you are inside the BMC

Guys, the great R.J Mical really liked the photos of my Power system and he wants me to help him make a computer think ahhaahahhah! He manages to answer a little but obviously he says that he is very busy and he is there for someone like him. I told him that it is enough for me that sometimes we can exchange two words because it makes me very happy and I am honored to be his friend!  ;D

After a few months of use I can give my first rough impressions. The 5700 XT works very well, so far no blockages or problems. Since she is active, a series of graphic modes have opened which obviously were not there before and if you have a good monitor, you can indulge in using a lot of different graphic modes and having specifically a 4K monitor, the board sets itself to defaut in 4K. I tested the videos on You Tube, I noticed that as AMD said at the time of the release of this card, its best performance is in 2K mode and therefore at 1440 P. In that resolution it works very well and plays videos great, yes obviously hears the fan working because the card at that resolution works harder, but it works very well. If you try to set in 4K then the videos go jerky so I don't think he can do it at that resolution. Another thing that I noticed that the HDMI audio works badly, but I think it's the fault of the original dirver not optimized for the purpose but I obviously don't use that audio so it's okay anyway.

Did you guys run aground right now that I entered the Blackbird ?! Are you there? What do you recommend at this point? ClassicHas you who did the update, are there problems for which it is better to wait or can you run? Another question, what commands can be used to exploit this root inside the Blackbird and to have more specific information on the various parts such as working CPU cores, CPU temperature and more?

General CPU Discussion / Re: Waiting for the new Power 9
« on: February 25, 2020, 06:58:58 am »
ClassicHas you do well to write the article, I had intuited that this guy is a partisan but I don't know him so I stayed there when I read this article. In my opinion, then it is not just an open source speech more or less, but in general we all know that Arm is anyway an architecture that in the meantime is older than Power, 1986 versus 1991 of Power, then completely fine for embedded and similar, but it doesn't get the power that a Power Server can develop overall! They are only spread thanks to the explosion of smartphones, without which ARM remained a niche CPU! Making certain statements in my opinion is a gamble ...! I hope someone answers him for the rhymes ...

You're right but if I have to tell you the truth I don't know well from a computer I've never done it, yes I know it may seem stupid but I've never done it, my mistake ... :P
