Excuse me, but does the DNFDragora 32 update application work for you? I don't like it, when I open it, it fills a lower bar that shows the applications that there are to update but it doesn't do anything, nothing appears in the list, you can't interact with any button of the application and when it finishes scrolling this lower blue bar, the application closes by itself and doesn't update anything. As a matter of fact, if I reopen DNFDragora, I find new applications to update and it does the same things it did before... There's a bug in Fedora 32's DNFDragora as well?

I tried to remove the Xorg file that contains the enabling of the Navi 10, so in theory the AST of the Blackbird had to start, but nothing, it does not start the same with the 5.6.8 kernel ...

I'm having another problem, dnfdragora update is no longer working, continues to always give me 10 updates to do but when I open it, instead of loading the list of available updates, it passes them below with a bar that fills up but in reality it does not does nothing because then I find them the same if I reopen the application or when I log in for a new session ... I don't know if it depends on the Kernel that I am using, being that I cannot use the current 5.6.8, the fact is that now it doesn't go anymore ...

guys the 5.6.8 kernel has arrived, too bad that for me personally, it still doesn't work! I have regularly updated Fedora like everyone else but since Kernel 5.6.7, Fedora 31, it no longer works. How's the situation going? Can I believe that something I don't know is missing?

hello Q66, I'm finding that in any case, the Kernel version 5.6.7 of Fedora, just doesn't work completely. It is not just a patch problem but the whole Kernel that does not start. I did the Fedora update and I successfully switched to version 32 but as Kernel I always use the modified 5.5.0.rc1 + otherwise it doesn't work completely. I had already noticed with Fedora 31 that this Kernel does not work completely. in fact I believe that the Fedora team must hurry to fix the bug ...

Here I had imagined that they had implemented it as standard. Do you mean that AMD itself took care of making this fix? This is a really nice thing. Currently I have seen that the version of Kernel available is 5.6.7 do you know if up to this version there is a bug?

For the rest it's great news, it means that as soon as they fix it, we will have the default patch and you don't need to do the whole procedure anymore, really great news, just set up Xorg as we currently have it and I'm done.
Fedora is truly fanstastic, proving once again the best, especially for us at Power, really fabulous!

I thank you for the confirmation, I had thought that the Kernel did not touch it but in doubt I asked. MPC sorry but what exactly did you feel to realize that this Kernel does not make Navi 10/14 work? I have not even understood if they have inserted the default patch on Kernel 5.6 or it must always be installed separately ...

Hi, yes I saw that the update has arrived, the problem for me and for those like me who have the kernel with patch for AMD Navi 10, you can update without losing the patch ... We currently use the modified Kernel 5.5 .0.RC1 + which incorporates the patch written by Tim Pearson to operate the Navi 10 type Radeon 5700 or 5700 XT, or Navi 14 which uses the same patch. Updating to Fedora 32, with Kernel 5.6, MPC7500 says that the patch does not work and therefore for us it becomes a big problem. I don't know how to behave honestly now ...

You mean that in our case as Power serves, because maybe only those who use the X86 version, can activate directly through the Xorg file, the Navi 10 or 14 graphics card...

sorry guys, I read that among the novelties of the Ubuntu 20.04 kernel, there is support for the Navi 12 and 14 GPUs, therefore I also assume the Navi 10 which falls on that list. Is it possible therefore that by updating to 20.04 and inserting the modification of Xorg that we currently use on Fedora, you can directly activate our Navi 10 without any Patch? What do you know about it?

Operating Systems and Porting / Re: Screen Saver disappeared
« on: April 22, 2020, 03:44:15 pm »
AlbertoGP, thanks for your report, I followed the guide of those sites you posted, in fact the files for the screen savers were missing, I don't know why they disappeared since they were there before the installation of the modified Kernel to enable Navi 10. Maybe by default this Kernel needs to have them installed and so it doesn't have them. I ran the command: yum list | grep -i xscreensaver, he gave me a list and from that list I tried to install all those files it brought back. Some of them were present and some were not and I installed them. The screen savers are finally back, the only problem is that it puts them as files in the settings and I had to group them all in one window. Then he downloaded a lot of them and I had to remove a lot of them because there were really too many. Anyway, I solved it, thank you very much.

Xlinder I looked where you went but I didn't find anything, the problem was they were just missing.

It is a good abstract concept, SATA ports cannot be eliminated, they are needed because they allow more people to use the peripherals at normal costs. Raptor made the Blackbird with the precise purpose of making a power system accessible to everyone and it did great. In the years to come, the choice will be wider and wider and there will also be a card with ATX form factor, which will be able to meet more requirements such as various equipment and who will want and can, will buy the one, which will have more RAM slots and more PCI-e slots available at a slightly higher cost. At the moment, for example, we are waiting to meet the Condor, which will be the first Power card with ATX shape and will mount Power 9 LaGrange.

Sforza's lanes are the highest so far in the 3 models. Sforza has 48 PCI-e lanes against 42 LAGrange and 16 OpenCapi 2.0 lanes, Monza has 34 PCI-e lanes, 48 and OpenCapi 2.0 lanes. The problem is not in the lanes so, only in the construction of the card and the spaces to use.

Guys, I don't think it's as simple as you might think this slot 8 above and 16 below. The Blackbird is a micro ATX card which means that it has to be compact and give you the possibility to install a 16 connector card and an 8/4/1 connector card. If they inverted the slot position, considering that the 16 slot is used for almost all people, for the graphics card, putting it underneath, there would no longer be the space required to install the cards that mainly need that slot. Moreover, you have to consider that today most graphics cards use such a shape that the upper slot 16 is precise and also the other motherboards of other computers are designed in the same way, the thing is universal for everyone for obvious reasons of optimized space. Raptor has to think about most of the options that are used today and in percentage, the cards on the market today are used with that configuration. What I think, we need to complete the range of motherboards dedicated to Power, is a card with ATX form factor, like the Condor or similar, in this way we will have more possibilities to install the various add-on cards...

Operating Systems and Porting / Screen Saver disappeared
« on: April 19, 2020, 04:53:18 am »
Friends of Power good morning, it will seem trivial I know but since I use the dedicated graphics card, it seems that the screen saver has disappeared and I could not find it anymore. I'm sending you the picture of the error that I get every time I open the Screen Saver application, let's see if we need to change something to recover the screen savers that are present by default on Linux...
Thanks
