Hi Borley, the main problem was that I couldn't figure out how to get the updated firmware installed, then I figured it out and I succeeded and at that point the GPU started normal. I was missing some repositories that once entered, they updated and automatically made me update the firmware.

Guys sorry, I understand what you are saying but the fact remains that to date, Chromium is the only browser that works without problems on Power there is little to do. Firefox still lacks the strength of Chromium and whether we want it or not, that's the way it is. In my opinion we must have Chromium on Power and it also seems strange to me that you Raptor tell me about Firefox when you were the first to support Chromium on Power ... What should you do to get the new sources after version 87? If there is a pod, let's use it and continue to carry on what is currently the only complete and totally usable browser on Power ... In my opinion at the moment there is nothing else we can do ... new sources ...

TLE, it will also be true that they do not have Power machines to detect any bugs but I do not think that Canonical of Ubuntu has more machines to test the desktop versions considering also that Ubuntu on Power does not have workstation versions while Fedora for some years has ... Yet Ubuntu from the software optimization side I saw that it is the best in direct comparison with Fedora and Debian ... Gnome 40 on Ubuntu is fine, runs well without problems!

Ok Classic, I just have to understand the exact procedure to do it too.  I remember well that when we first made these Navi work, for example, we changed a line in the petit Boot.  After loading, go to the command line and type this command: # nvram -p ibm, skiboot --update-config fast-reset = 0 # nvram -p ibm, skiboot --print-config "ibm, skiboot" Partition     
Now this has always been set on my motherboard, what else needs to be done, how exactly do you proceed from Petit Boot and which command should you enter? Thanks

Hi Sharkcz, so you too have noticed that changes have been made starting from version 5.14 onwards, which have affected the functioning of AMD GPUs. Is it possible to hope for a correction in good times of this problem in the Linux Kernel by the Kernel team? I mainly use Ubuntu 20.04.3 with Xorg and the problem is the same, so I don't think it affects the graphics server.  They changed some damn parameters on the new Kernels and now we have problems and what's worse they still haven't solved it ...!  Classic sorry for Kernel options you mean when configuring the parameters?  Is there this option that you say must be set to 0?  Let me get it right ...

Yes Classic I know that I have the Navi, only that I say this because I have noticed that every time there is a problem in the Kernel, concerning the AMD GPUs, this occurs indiscriminately on different types of cards, such as Navi, Nano and others ... I therefore believe that the problem is the same also because coincidentally we have the same problems at the same time ... Maybe you have not read this link sent by the friend MPC, here we are talking about Vega, so another model but problem itself. Here they say they have solved but I did not understand anything about how they did unfortunately. If you can better understand what they did then it's great ... I'll post the link ...

Hi Classic, the problem I know for sure occurs with Kernels from version 5.14 onwards, including the new 5.15 which I just tested a few days ago and which still suffers from the same bug.  Can you tell me where to go or how to proceed to verify this part you are talking about?  Thanks

Hi, unfortunately it is the same problem that I have pointed out since the Linux Kernel moved to version 5.14.X.  From this Kernel version onwards, at the moment, AMD GPUs no longer boot and you need a Kernel up to 5.13.19 to make it work.  They showed me a post where they understood the problem but I don't know how to do that procedure they talk about to avoid this ...

Just updated to 35 as well and I confirm that it sucks exactly like the previous version.  I don't understand why after all this time and the reports made, they still haven't implemented this patch themselves ... It's really grotesque I would say, how this gnome works on Fedora!  Is there a wizard that you know of?  I don't know how to implement it manually unfortunately ...

I'm also experiencing boot issues with Bullsye that didn't previously occur with Buster. The problem apparently always goes back to starting with AMD GPUs. At the time of loading the Kernel, I am currently using version 5.12.8 compiled by myself, during startup at some point, usually the screen goes black, you see the cursor that stops at the top right and then AST shuts down and the external GPU starts up. It has happened to me more than once that after the screen is cleaned, the Kernel loaded, the cursor at the top left remains there and does not switch with the external GPU and everything freezes and I must necessarily turn off everything and restart as it was totally blocked ... Which Buster did not do, so I suppose it is a problem related to Bullsye it seems ... For the rest I also noticed a general performance improvement compared to Buster and it took because it was a bit slow and jerky indeed!

Guys, you have abandoned the development of Chromium on Power from what I see ... unfortunately everything has stopped for months ... If there were the sources I would have compiled it myself but unfortunately there is nothing beyond the version 87, a real shame because it is the browser that is best of all damn ...

Eventually I managed to sort it out on my own. I saw a site where it reported to add for Bullseye, a repository line that is not there. After I put it on it allowed me to download the slightly newer firmware and that point the graphics card started. Instead I tested the new Kernel 5.15 but the problem of not starting with the GPU unfortunately remains a curse ...
