You won't get any Emails or acknowledgement beyond the RMA number and shipping address you received when you created the RMA on the Web site.

Send the defective product back according to those instructions, and we'll send out a replacement unit.  As far as export goes, unfortunately that is not an area we can offer advice in aside from noting that many countries have a process where you can record the outgoing shipment of a defective product so as to avoid paying VAT on the (marked as) replacement  / repaired unit.

PHB Freeze/Fence detected !
This is an unhappy planar; the ASpeed VGA controller is not functioning correctly.  Try carefully removing the system from your case and powering on in a static-free environment (not on an antistatic mat as they are conductive).  If the problem persists you will need to submit an RMA request via the "My Account" link at https://www.raptorcs.com.

There is no "Blackbird 2" planned for POWER9
The Blackbird™ Secure Desktop has a Blackbird™ II uATX mainboard. Version II of the mainboard is only available in that bundle.

Sorry to disappoint you all, but that was in fact a copypasta problem.  Somehow part of the copy for Talos II ended up in there without being properly scrubbed of the spurious "II".  It should now be fixed.  :-[

So, as I understand it we've answered some of these questions before, but probably would be a good idea to get the answers in a more public space. :)

Firmware updates are a known hassle.  We're working with IBM on a better update mechanism, but it's not our top priority at the moment.

Boot time is also something we try to improve, in conjunction with IBM and the overall community.  Progress is slowly being made there; it's all software/firmware, so you don't have to worry about any hardware changes required to improve boot speed.

We're waiting on the Broadcom firmware still; my understanding is there's one bit of setup that isn't fully understood yet, but once that's figured out we can switch over

Graphical installers are available and work.  Fedora just enabled workstation builds, see https://www.talospace.com/2020/01/fedora-workstation-live-isos-up-and.html for info.  Adelie has a workstation installer too: https://www.adelielinux.org/

Firefox is really the largest project to have a somewhat embarrassing lack of full support (specifically, the JIT).  Google has also continually refused to merge our POWER patches, though due to Chromium's popularity the POWER support has been reliably maintained anyway out of tree and in Ungoogled form as well, see https://github.com/leo-lb/ungoogled-chromium (and huge thanks to the maintainer for doing this!)

Yes, the HDMI fix is still required.  We don't have a kernel patch yet.

Regarding Glamor, that's a software problem.  There is no "Blackbird 2" planned for POWER9, and POWER10 is still a significant distance away.

So far as I know Vikings will be launching our products soon-ish.  I don't have exact timing, you could always write them and ask.  ;)

Does this answer your questions?

Excuetce but I don't understand what you're referring to specifically! I have only said and asked to have information on how to install VLC as I was not able to find it and then I wrote that I wanted to understand how to make everything work better with Bluray, I do not think I have altered anything, I only use ORIGINAL software for DVDs and Bluray so if you think I'm asking for information for non-original material to play you're wrong and very pure! Reproducing original material can be done in any place, both home reader and computer reader, so I repeat I don't understand what your problem is sincerely ... If there is something that has translated badly then it is another matter, using the translator of Google doesn't always come out exactly as you write it, but I don't see it myself ...

Most likely this got lost in translation.

In the US there is conflicting law, one law states that you are not even allowed to decrypt original media for playback if it was encrypted (e.g. commercial BluRay).  Due to that law (the DMCA), we cannot allow discussion of how to break encryption (even for interoperability / playback of original media) on these forums.

If you are playing unencrypted BluRay data disks (e.g. mkv data from a camera, etc.) of course that discussion is not a problem here.

We would ask that you please refrain from any discussion on decrypting commercial DRM-protected media on these forums.  While we are aware that legality varies worldwide, we are US based and this is not something we can tolerate on these boards as a result.

Our official stance is to obtain the media in non-DRM protected form -- for instance, record it from an OTA TV showing (most ATSC/DVB tuners work great wirh unencrypted broadcasts on POWER including software like MythTV), or to simply play the media on an authorized device (i.e. a standalone Bluray player).

It also wouldn't hurt overall to let the studios know you're wanting to purchase a DRM-free version of the movie since you won't be giving them access to your personal data on your PC just to watch a movie.  Having a higher priced DRM-free variant of a movie (compare CD audio to Sirius, for example) has been something we've wanted the studios to consider for a long time.

are you even telling me that maybe we will never have adequate support on the 5700s? This is a serious thing though ... honestly I'm not sure now what to do ... I might first try writing to AMD for clarification, who knows if they can give me some advice ... it would be a shame not to be able to use it after spending 500 euro and even if it is returned cmq a great sin ...

No, it will eventually gain support, but Navi is still new.  The number of Linux developers that have Navi and a non-x86 system are likely not very high.  You could offer to loan the GPU and pay a developer to fix the drivers, or wait until market penetration is high enough that developers can pick up a second hand card on eBay or similar for cheap.  There's no shortcut here; it's either money or time unless you're lucky enough to get AMD to care about their broken drivers.  Our official stance is that a driver broken in this manner shouldn't have been accepted by the kernel maintainers in the first place, or at least marked Experimental.

he tells me he can't find the kernel startup argument because I added the line, the photo doesn't let me post it because he tells me that there is a 128k limit

We've increased the attachment size limit to 1MB.  If your images are larger than 1MB, please rescale down.

Thank you!

Obviously, as all GPUs require firmware, and specifically anything using amdgpu needs *loadable* firmware (i.e. it's not onboard anymore) in form of signed firmware blobs. The driver may not be proprietary, but the firmware always is.

We mark anything requiring kernel/userspace binaries as Proprietary.  Card side firmware we don't explicitly call out, since it's IOMMU isolated.  If we see any libre GPU options start showing up, we'll start calling out cards that require vendor firmware somehow, but for now there's no real point considering the state of the GPU market.
