Yea I was able to get Ollama up and running following the instructions.
I didn't get very good performance though. I was getting only around  0.10 tokens/s using deepseek-r1:32b on CPU only.

I did try to get my RTX A4000 GPU to work but I couldn't get the driver to work properly. nvidia-smi just hangs and eventually gives an error message.

I think I've seen a similar error before and the issue was not being able to mount the root filesystem
I'd check if you are missing file system or disk controller drivers.

For my Talos I used genkernel to configure and build the kernel and create an initrd, and that worked for me.

Not sure if this is still a problem, but if you are using btrfs, at one point you couldn't use a file system created on a 64k system on a 4k one.

Talos II / PCI-E Psssthrough

Hi folks,
Anyone have PCI-E passthrough to a VM working recently on a Talos II?
I'm pretty sure this used to work for me at some point,
but now I don't see any IOMMU groups at all in my dmesg logs.
This was running Fedora 38

I did try the 7204 a while back. The hardware RAID part didn’t work, but the rest of it does. It shows up as 4 individual NVME drives under Linux.

I experience this issue from time to time too. I am using a Marvell PCI-E SATA controller.
Rebooting a few times seems to resolve the issue most of the time.
Removing the optical drive  also stops this from happening and allows the hard drive to work fine.
For now I've just left it disconnected since I don't use it frequently.

Hi,
I am trying to follow the Compiling Firmware instructions on the wiki https://wiki.raptorcs.com/wiki/Compiling_Firmware
Has anyone else run into this error while cloning the git repo:?

git clone -b raptor-v2.00 --recursive https://scm.raptorcs.com/scm/git/talos-op-build
Cloning into 'talos-op-build'...
fatal: unable to access 'https://scm.raptorcs.com/scm/git/talos-op-build/': server certificate verification failed. CAfile: /etc/ssl/certs/ca-certificates.crt CRLfile: none

I can disable that warning in get, but I am wondering if this is expected or not.

With the Bus Pirate you mean ? Or using socflash?
My serial adapter should work since I used it before after a bad update and was able to use the u-boot tftp method to recover.
This time is different though since I get no output at all.

Actually I haven't tried asking in the IRC chat yet.
I had tried to get on there a few months ago but wasn't able to.
I just got some message saying I was banned as soon as I tried to sign in.

Yea, I don't remember for sure, but that's certainly possible that I just renamed and forgot to decompress the file. I've done firmware updates before with out any issues, so probably just screwed up something this time.

I am a little concerned over using an untrusted utility to recover the BMC, I wouldn't want some malware to get down in there. Not sure how likely that is. Could re flashing the BMC the regular way immediately after take care of that? Or do I actually need to get a flash programmer?

I was trying to follow the instructions for upgrading to 2.0 on the wiki https://wiki.raptorcs.com/wiki/File:Talos-ii-openbmc-v2.00-bundle.tar

I copied image-bmc over, rebooted th BMC, and then it didn't come back online after that.

Yea I looked at that guide already.
The first 2 methods didn't work for me, I am not getting any output from the BMC over the serial console.
The other method requires the  ASPEED SOC Flash Utility which I don't have, and the link seems to be broken. I assume that's because you need to be a registered developer now to get it. I haven't looked into regisering yet, I assumed getting a flash programmer would probably be cheaper.

Firmware / Recovering BMC After Failed Firmware Update

I am looking for some advice on how to recover the BMC on my Talos II after a failed attempt to upgrade to the new 2.0 firmware.
I can see the BMC heartbeat LED flashing rapidly on the board, and I am not able to get any output on the serial console.

From what I've read on the wiki, it looks like I will either need to get a flash programmer to externally re program the chip.
Has anyone here done this recently and can recommend what kind to get?
