Swapping back to the Radeon after installing with the Geforce has successfully booted and works as expected. All apps working(including Kmail which was broken in the FC42 PPC64LE). System feels snappy with proper graphics drivers running. Very nice release now.

tle, I tried the GNOME version which I assume is the main workstation version. Same error on installation with the Radeon error mentioned above.

If I can help troubleshoot something, let me know and I will see what I can do on this end.

Borrowed a Geforce 1030 graphics card. Installation went forward as planned. What I didn't realize is RPMFusion doesnt have drivers for PPC64LE.  :'(
The default driver is quite sluggish.

Well everything is installed now and updated, I am going to try and switch back to my Radeon and see if the latest updates have made any difference.

I attempted installation of Workstation and KDE Plasma Edition with the release version. I am getting error "drm:radeon device init [radeon]*ERROR* Unable to find PCI I/O Bar"

No GUI ever comes up on the main graphics at this point. I went back to my old Fedora 42 Live thumbdrive and it correctly boots and loads up. The Beta of 43 seemed to work fine, but something appears wrong with Radeon drivers on the PPC64LE release with the release version. Unfortunately I don't have an Nvidia card to try.

I have run F43 KDE Desktop Beta downloaded. The Live CD loaded up the OS and seems to be good. General snappy performance on my Blackbird. I tried installing onto a spare nvme card I had. Install goes through fine, however during boot it crashes out and doesn't load into the GUI startup wizard. I will experiment more shortly on it.

Update. I am continually updating daily. About 2 weeks this broke both kmail and konqueror, with neither loading. Bug reports have been submitted to KDE, link below.

https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=503528

Otherwise system has been stable and fast with no other major hickups.

One issue I have noticed is the System Monitor in the GUI doesn't show total Memory, Disk and CPU usage at the top. For the individual apps at the bottom it shows correctly. The error pops up "The page is missing some sensors and will not display correctly." Not sure if anyone else has this issue, otherwise smooth. I have been putting F42 through the ringer today.

Good question. I have been using Wayland for my day to day since F40 so I can't really comment on it. Wayland has been quite stable since the install yesterday. I'm using an RDNA2 graphics card if that makes any difference.

Just finished fresh install of Fedora 42 KDE. Smooth and simple install. No issues found as of yet with the exception of the Discover showing 61 available to install even though command line with dnf says everything is up to date. Fast, responsive. Moving up from Fedora 40. Very happy to get kmail on ppc64le! :)

Thanks for the tip! I didn't realize that.

It reboots, motherboard beeps, and then monitor never comes alive again. Have to do a hard power off.

I am running a Radeon RX5500XT.

I am not sure on fast-reset on or off. Is this a setting on the board?

Yes I have been getting used to just powering it off. I was curious what other people were experiencing.

What is the experience with the latest Fedora and Suse versions? Traditionally I have used Fedora, and version 40 with KDE6 and Plasma is very very nice. I have several things that effect my system, like Updates through Discover showing up but handing on installation through the GUI. DNF update through the console works fine. The other issue I seem to have I am not able to restart the system. It will not reboot back, it require me turning the whole computer off and then back on. I am running a Blackbird with the 4 core processor. I experimented with Suse and it seemed like some of these issues didn't happen with it.

I guess I should have mentioned I am using this machine as my day to day desktop machine. Wondering if anyone else is doing this as well.
