Please see my blog about choosing between the Blackbird and the Talos II Lite.  For many people, the Talos II Lite is a much better choice and only a little bit more expensive.  You get to use a wider GPU, there is better cooling, 4 memory channels (instead of just 2 in Blackbird) and use of any POWER9 CPU (Blackbird limited to 8 cores).  The cost difference is less than €150 + the bigger case.

A slightly larger case would be fine. Maybe I could accept 4 cores. Especially if 8 cores is much louder. Boot time should not be a problem since I usually leave computers on. I assume that there is power management that adapts power consumption to load.

Blackbird / Want more options for Blackbird™ Secure Desktop

My current computer is on overtime and should be replaced as soon as possible. I could buy components but would prefer a bundle. But the Blackbird™ Secure Desktop has very limited options. I would like to select:

• version 2 of the CPU
• 8 cores
• 32 GiB RAM

And I need to get it into the European Economic Area. I have read the rumors about Vikings. I also have loose plans for a tourist trip to the USA and might order the wares to a hotel (if so only mainboard, CPU, cooler and maybe RAM and Workstation Graphics) and bring it home in the hand luggage.

There is no "Blackbird 2" planned for POWER9

The Blackbird™ Secure Desktop has a Blackbird™ II uATX mainboard. Version II of the mainboard is only available in that bundle.
