I don't think they are, and if you're price sensitive I wouldn't think the Pro parts are that big of a deal. I bought the WX7100 with my Talos II because it was convenient and it was to support Raptor, not because I think the card would be that much better than the equivalent prosumer part.

There's the 2U heatsinks. I use one in a Blackbird. Works well enough but I would only use it for the 4-core.

You have air moving across it in some capacity though? No issues with throttling or anything?

Yes, there are case fans. It's never gotten into overheat territory since those were installed.

I can hear the system bus sometimes leak into my audio with my WX7100 (5.6 kernel). Is this something different or louder?

Probably not anytime soon. Besides currency instability, the supply chain is really roiled right now.

Old Trendnet thing.

The other question is rank. I haven't gotten a straight answer on this from the IBM docs.

That I don't know, I only run Windows 98 on mine. I'll look into it when I get a little time unless someone here is already running W10.

I've used a single splitter without problems. I think it would get dicey chaining more than that.

I think a better means is to try to create a VM in QEMU directly. I think you have too many layers in the middle to verify functionality. Try this: https://www.talospace.com/2018/11/making-your-talos-ii-into-ibm-pseries.html

If it boots AIX (fast) with KVM on, then you know it's working, and the other issues are most likely related to configuration.

My Talos II systems are in the standard Supermicro chassis that Raptor ships. I replaced the power supplies with superquiets and now even my dual-8 is quieter than the Quad G5 next to it, though the Quad is about halfway through its second CPU-pump assembly.

/dev/kvm is present on Fedora. I think this is more of an issue with GNOME Boxes. I just call QEMU directly and KVM works fine.

359
This is a QEMU-specific question. Install that, and then follow any of the directions out there for setting up Windows 10 to run within it. Note that many of these assume you will be using KVM; you won't. In this example, remove `--enable-kvm`but the other steps should be fine.

Well, they won't. Wine is an implementation of the Windows API; it is processor-agnostic. Something like Hangover adds the CPU emulation piece.
