"modprobe.blacklist=ast video=offb:off amdgpu.aspm=0" when i add this in the bootloader for opensuse leap i get no video whatsoever and it just hangs at boot

to my surprise, when I installed openSUSE tumbleweed as leap was giving me some issues. There's absolutely no web browsers in the repos what so ever.

what can I do?

i think SMT is configured in petitboot but i'm not sure. haven't booted my system yet. I dont think it would do much for quake 2 rtx either though.

also, you play it online yet lol?

so which setting enables write protection? I assume it's 1, but I want to be sure. I haven't seen it documented specifically.

should I wait for the intel arc gpu drivers over AMD? i've wanted to play this since it came out and I'd rather wait for power9 support to play it. I might opt for an a770 gpu over an AMD card if it plays well. Maybe a bit off topic but should one even trust an intel gpu moreso over an amd/nvidia lol..?

well now I'd like to get a new gpu to play it, but i think i'll wait a bit for driver updates.. Still one of the best gaming benchmarks out there, and runs on POWER too..

Nice theres a competent benchmark for the system now.. i was going with an older card for my build for now but i'd definitely like to try vulkan raytracing. maybe in a  year or two when support is more stable.

plenty of servers probably use sv_pure 0. its an anticheat method for modified game files but people also like customization... i haven't played ET in a long time. i always liked RTCW more. you might want to try iortcw and see if it can connect to servers. The issue is probably it thinks you compiled your own cheat client or something since well, its ppc64le lol.

if you want to test this more, you could try ioquake3. it should be in your distros repo maybe. it is for openSUSE, im sure fedora has it too. Someone compiled quake3e and was able to connect to servers just fine, but i think those had sv_pure 0.
