More details at https://fedoramagazine.org/whats-new-fedora-36-workstation/
Changes
* Kernel 5.17.x
* GNOME 42
It is an incremental upgrade from Fedora 35. The performance of Mutter is still horrible, I hope in GNOME 44 the team would optimise the animation further.

I'm going to see how much I can stand of libadwaita all the things, but I'll probably be moving to Pantheon with this release.

The problem of Kernel 5.17 as well as 5.16, we know that you have to apply the patch, how can you apply it without compiling a kernel yourself ?! Can it be applied to the Fedora Kernel? Apart from that now I'm happy to use Debian with which I'm getting much better on everything.

Hi All,
I've just upgraded from 35 (I was already running kernel 5.17) and video performance, which was ok before the upgrade, now is very slow. I run KDE Plasma.
Is there anything I can do to improve video performance? I run on standard video output from BMC and do not have room for a graphics/GPU board on my Blackbird. So, I mean, any software change/config that can help improve video performance?
Thanks in advance.

I see Fedora getting worse from version to version now, now if you use AST, even KDE doesn't run well anymore ... Honestly, what's happening with Fedora on Power is disheartening ...
-
I just posted this on TALOSPACE.
I tried to install 36. the installer would not display on either the AST or my 7750 radeon.
They were both activated, just no display.
I then installed an older copy of F35 and followed these instruction;
https://docs.fedoraproject.org/en-US/quick-docs/dnf-system-upgrade/
Now it is up and running. It is early and the only app I installed is Midnight Commander;
sudo dnf install mc. I also dislike GNOME but it comes with Gnome Classic and makes it usable for me.
Right now I'm running Mozilla listening some smooth jazz while watching old classic movies.
It works fine with 64K page size. (at least on my older Radeon.)
It's still early.
-
So by this you mean you had to install F35 first, and then upgrade? That's not encouraging. Was this off the live CD? Which spin?
-
I am not surprised with things get regressed. The ppc64le has never been the primary focus of the Fedora team. There was little tests conducted by the community when it was in beta. Well time to file some bug reports and send in some patches
-
Unfortunately Fedora is constantly regressing from 34 and this is a fact ... In the end I decided to leave in fact for this very reason, I'm sorry but unfortunately these are the facts, I had upgraded from 34 to 35 and I realized of the worsening, now not even step to 36 does not make sense at this point, it is not even worthwhile to mount the hard disk ...

@ClasicHasClass
Yes. The only reason I tried the upgrade path was that I could not get a working screen with the WorkStation or Server spins to install.
Their is still a Python script missing for Pycheck, but the system is working. Problems reported, maybe already fixed. It's still early.
-
@sharkcz, is this known?
-
Today I downloaded and installed F36 Everything net install with no video problems. So there is 1 bug fixed. .....Takes time.
I also selected LXqt desktop. Again okay.

The images are untouched since release.
