Google earth quit working on my mac. How hard would it be to get it working on a blackbird?

If you look at the list of working packages in VoidLinux (which is IMHO the most complete list to find out the how good packages work on Power9)
you can find "google earth pro" as "not working":

I am confused, is not Google Earth Pro a proprietary, x86-only application? Is the idea behind a google-earth-pro package to just load the x86 binary for Linux in a prec-onfigured emulator?

Not a solution but please check out the Marble project (https://marble.kde.org/).

Marble is indeed interesting, but in my experience it has been very unstable; last time I experimented across Mac/Windows/Linux, on each platform half of the basemaps would not work, and the set of non-functioning maps varied between OSs.
I have not looked at it recently, but the USA's NASA had an open source 3D globe program of their own called World Wind (https://worldwind.arc.nasa.gov/); that could potentially be worth investigation.
For everyday users however, GNOME Maps (https://wiki.gnome.org/Apps/Maps) is probably a better solution. While it is 2D only, it does have substantially better satellite imagery than Marble or World Wind due to a partnership with Mapbox (https://www.gnome.org/news/2016/08/mapbox-steps-in-to-help-gnomes-maps-application/).
