Does this error occur only with Bullseye or also with other distributions? Your Xorg.config file is correct?

Depending on which distribution I use, I have to use these kernel boot arguments:
modprobe.blacklist=ast video=offb:off

And I have to select the port of the AMD GPU after Petitboot is loaded, otherwise I also get the message "no screens found".

You could try to build it:

I haven't installed Fedora anymore, but OpenVPN should be available.

The page size doesn’t make any difference.

To put that on the wiki would be a good thing

You're right. As for audio, you could use a cheap USB sound device. I'm using my AMD graphic card with Kernel 5.4.

Here you will find a comparison of the different mainboards:

Yes, Blackbird has audio, SATA and HDMI. But the number of PCIe slots are equal.

To be honest, I would change the order to a Talos-II lite. I don't think they will have the Blackbird back in stock quickly.
Price-wise, it hardly makes a difference. But you need a bigger case, of course, unfortunately.

How about the Dune Pro?

If you can't reach anyone via support, I would try Twitter. If you don't have a Twitter account, you can give me your ticket number and I'll write to Raptor.

You can install various codecs (ffmpeg etc.) via e.g. terminal, dnfdragora.

Operating Systems and Porting / Re: Ubuntu anomalies on Power

There are no critical issues on Ubuntu. Last time I tried Ubuntu 19.04 or 19.10. And Debian didn't use a outdated Kernel.

Hey Maury, I use my Blackbird as a desktop.  I mean, browser (chromium and firefox), email client (thunderbird) and open office. I use it with Fedora and KDE Plasma. What difference would it make for a user like myself if the OS is Ubuntu, Debian or Fedora?

Here is a brief overview of the differences between distributions.

Distributions have different philosophies. This is also the reason why e.g. Debian uses older kernel versions.

One point that is not mentioned in the article are the repositories. The packages that are available on a distribution. At least from my point of view a big difference on ppc64le.

But all in all every distribution (Debian, Ubuntu, Fedora, CentOS, OpenSUSE, Devuan, Gentoo, Void) works very well on POWER.

Even on VoidLinux the package is listed as unavailable. So I guess, it's a bigger issue.
