[NEWS] Linux 7.2

<< < (2/2)

Corvidae:
It looks like 7.2.7 backported a fix for the issue (ade9f5464ff78316ae6789771f173b3b22ab50fb, "powerpc: Don't drop _TIF_RESTOREALL on syscall restart"). My distro had 7.2.8 by the time I got around to testing, but that survived my overnight compile session with no segfaulting, so I'd say it's safe to use the 7.2 series now.

I still suggest updating your Ubuntu and Debian kernels. From when I was on those kernels, normal computer usage was fine, but whenever I tried compiling anything (which took 100% of the CPU because I was using all cores) I started getting random processes in the compile jobs start crashing. I don't know enough about how interrupts work to say whether it's possible to trigger the issue when you have any cores idle.
