Ability to use Nvidia RTX 50XX on Power
(1/1)
MauryG5:
Guys, I started this new thread because I'd like to understand where we actually are with Nvidia GPUs, especially the RTX 50XX. I read on a site that you can download specific drivers for our architecture, so I obviously wondered if there might be support for actually using the new RTX 50XX. Do you know anything concrete about this situation? Do you know if it's possible to actually use an Nvidia GPU? The example site I found in the meantime is this: https://developer.download.nvidia.com/compute/nvidia-driver/redist/nvidia_driver/linux-ppc64le/

These nVidia drivers are only suitable for computation.
They do not provide any graphics output. Furthermore, they are outdated.

Yes, you're right. After looking at other articles, I realized that they are part of the Volta 100 support that Nvidia gave to Power machines, which then ended in 2024. In any case, I read that from Kernel 6.16 onwards, there should be drivers already available for the latest RTX 50XX cards, but I'll have to see if we can also use them on Power...
